This Valentine’s Day happens to be my 12th anniversary, and I want to do something special and romantic. As usual, I’ve been dithering about where to go, and now — just one month from V-Day — I still haven’t decided.
So, I’m asking for your help — not just a suggestion but a command. In two weeks, on Jan. 27, I’m going to book two tickets wherever you tell me to go. It has to be a wine region (for tax reasons) and it has to be in North America (for economic reasons), but those are the only two stipulations. Whatever North American wine region gets the most votes, that’s where I’m headed.
Call it crowd-sourced romance. I’m trusting you to steer me in the right direction. If the trip isn’t romantic, I’ll probably end up on the sofa when we get home!
How to vote? Three options:
- Leave your suggestion in the “Comments” area below.
- Tweet your suggestion to @prostcards. (And please follow us, while you’re at it!)
- Email your suggestion to mail@prostproductions.com.
I’ll write periodic updates on how the voting is going — and once the wine region has been decided, I’ll be back to ask about specific wineries, restaurants, inns, etc.
Thanks for your input. I’m sure this will be a Valentine’s Day to remember!
Prost!

Come to Oregon! Willamette Valley is scenic and romantic. Guarantee you will love it.
I think for romance you need to visit San Luis Obispo along the California Central Coast
Definitely Paso Robles on the California Central Coast!! Region produces great wines and still has all of the charm (Napa used to have) without the crowds, traffic and expensive tasting fees. Lots of quaint Bed & Breakfasts or hotels and restaurants with fireplaces to add a little extra romance to your evenings in case it’s chilly. If you’re here on February 13, definitely join us for our “romantic” winemaking for wine lovers workshop featuring ports & chocolate.
Good luck and have fun wherever you go.
Nothing is more romantic than Pinot Noir!
Spend a couple of days in late February on the Extreme Sonoma Coast. (No place more beautiful for romance – just ask my husband) and then plan on joining us at the Pinot Noir Summit on Saturday, February 27th and share your passion with other Pinot Noir lovers.
You’d be surprised by the romantic beauty of the Texas Hill Country. Beautiful landscapes, two dozen wineries, lots of great B&Bs or resorts. Come check it out!

For Romance, for fun stay in Santa Ynez and take a wine tour through the areas small pristine wineries. Enjoy the vineyards, restaurants, quiet times and each other.
I agree about the romance of Pinot Noir. Funny, huh? I mean, what makes a wine romantic? I’ve actually been interviewing winemakers on just that topic … blog posts to follow shortly.
Sure wish I could make your summit. I should just do wine travel full-time…
I totally agree with Becky. We’re heading to Paso Robles again this year. Great restaurants, 150 wineries, plus a Rhone Rangers event/tasting on Sunday. It’s great!
Becky & Lisa are right! Your Valentine will fall in love with Paso Robles Wine Region. Stay at La Bellasera for added romance! Enjoy!
Only A Couple Weeks left Till Valentines! Happy Holidays and thanks for the post!
Hi, good post. I look forward to your next article. Thanks, Zoe
